ABOUT TIKI TAKY

About Tiki Taky

Our tropical tale begins in 2006 when Harry, a retired Colonel, opened his first bar in the Žižkov neighborhood of Prague. Žižkov is known for its alternative image, working class roots, and colorful characters. This would be the perfect place to start serving tasty libations to the thirsty public. In fact, Žižkov contains the most pubs per street than anywhere else in Prague. To say that Žižkovites like to drink would be an understatement.

Harry leased a ‘Herna bar’, a late night gambling hole full of slot machines and desperados feeding the coins into them. Harry didn’t like this type of bar and longed for something more upbeat. Then he met Trader J, whose basement tiki bar outgrew its space. The bar bros launched Taky Tiki (later becoming Tiki Taky) and began a decades-long revamp. You see, a tiki bar is never finished. A tiki bar is jammed to the rafters with bamboo, tiki carvings, vintage postcards, moody lighting, tropical decor, and more. That’s because a tiki bar isn’t merely decorated; it’s curated. And it keeps on evolving, one piece of tropical memorabilia or one curio at a time.
